Survey and assessment of service harbour on South Yemen Coast for Canadian Occidental Petroleum. The harbour suffered from siltation and damage to a rubble mound breakwater. A littoral drift study and physical modelling was carried out followed by recommendations for remedial works. Ash Shihr harbour in Yemen serves an offshore mooring operated by Canadian Occidential Petroleum (Yemen) Ltd for a terminal that has a throughput of 250,000 barrels of oil per day. The operator was concerned that there was a build-up of sediment in the harbour and also that the seaward face of the main breakwater, which provides protection for operation of the service vessels, was showing signs of damage from wave attack.
